Marshall Cheng, Sandan
Renshikan Karate-Do and instructor at Delta
Karate School
competed for Canada
July 24-26th, 1999 in Winnipeg
at the PanAmerican Games. He was one of only
6 Canadian karate athletes to qualify for this prestigious event. He
fought well against Argentina
in the men's -65 kg kumite (sparring)
division. Though not advancing to the medal rounds this time Marshall
is very happy to have experienced competition at a multi-sport event.
Now his goal is to help develop a program enhancing the skills of up and
coming competitors. See news article As good as karate
gets - for now
Lisa Ling, also a third degree blackbelt in Renshikan
Karate-Do from the Delta Karate
School competed in the women's
middle weight kumite division and brought home a
bronze medal for Canada.
