Dear friends,
We invite you to tune into some “fantastic clocks of musical time” via The Coast Recital Society 2011-2012 season of wonderful
concerts.
In this increasingly frenetic and intrusive cyber world of internet downloads, mp3s, podcasts and iTunes, listening to music in a live concert setting is ever
more important, relevant and vital to our lives. The upcoming CRS roster offers a host of distinguished musicians who uphold our tradition of presenting the
finest classical music concerts for Sunshine Coast audiences.
Many CRS artists arrive with camera in hand - and no wonder! They are dazzled by the spectacular scenery on the Coast. Indeed, the seascape photograph in this
year's brochure was taken by last season’s superb Dutch mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn. In addition to her splendid recital, Stotijn, like many of her CRS
colleagues, also performed here as part of the CRS Artists in the Community program, which is dedicated to extending live performances to local schools and
eldercare audiences. CRS scholarships for local classical music students, workshops by CRS artists, and pre-concert chats with our performers, also reach
out to young musicians and subscribers.
The support we receive from individual donors, local businesses and government grantors is crucial to the success of the CRS, enabling us to bring these
marvelous artists to the Sunshine Coast. We thank you all.
