Southern Pacific 1941 Daylight Cars
Inaugurated in 1937, SP's streamlined Daylight replaced a heavyweight train of the same name operating on the 470 mile Coast Line between Los Angeles and San Francisco. By 1939 the Daylight had become so popular that two new 14-car trains were ordered from Pullman Standard to replace the earlier sets, and then again more in 1941. These are the cars that would have been used by the then brand new GS4 class locomotive 4449, in May 1941. The cars listed below, with three sets of the two car articulated coaches, make up the complete 14 cars consist. All the cars have the corrugated sides.
