These coaches are from the 'period 3' style of LMS design, and were constructed during 1933-46. The name Stanier, is the name of the designer, who was also the Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LMS from January 1st, 1932 - 1944. Many of the Stanier coaches lasted into the late 1960's.
