THE DADUKOS

APPASSIONETTA

The DADUKOS - APPASSIONETTA
. . . I've never so resented my inability to effectively express myself than when I see someone [a girl] with whom I may willingly – AND WITH COURTSHIP AFORETHOUGHT – willingly devote all of my “passionata.” To whom I could write one thousand lines of verse while kidding myself that it is worthy of such fantastic beauty and such deeply felt passionata.

As “Asymmetrical” is to “Symmetrical,” viz, not symmetrical, so “Appassionata” is to “Passionata,” – not passionate, feeble in the arts of seduction, on the dark side of the moon of passion.

The words at the start are the final words spoken by Ludwig Van Beethoven. In his bed, infected and in the grip of some fevered ecstasy, LVB barked forth these words and then left us alone with a repertoire of 9 symphonies, 7 concertoes, 17 string quartets, 32 piano sonatas, 10 sonatas for violin and piano, 5 sonatas for cello and piano, 2 masses and 1 opera on the subject of fidelity.

He also left us alone to endure the balance of the century and the empty-headed, full-hearted noise of romantic indulgence . . . to suffer painted thrust upon a flesh-coloured canvas and the musings of a dolled-up häxan of a whore in tweed.

At the very least that's my estimation, but I've been wrong about centuries before ( including the 1st, the 16th, the 20th and the 21st ) so I'm very probably wrong about the 19th as well.
