Gulf of Georgia
Season In Review
2005
The past 2005 racing
season will go down as one of the best years for our racers. High place
achievements had been made not only here in the Gulf of Georgia racing area but
in our international association. Racer Bob Good not only was Top Canadian at
this years International Cruiser Race held out of Anacortes Washington, but won
Pacific Northwest Champion for the ICR. This award is given to the best score
achieved in the ICR from the past years total points scored. Bob also placed
second in the prestigious North American Invitational held this year in St.
Petersburg Florida. Bob then capped off the year with obtaining the most points
scored, 8941 for 2005 and was crowned the Skipper of the Year here in the Gulf
of Georgia Navigators Association of British Columbia. Bob was able to achieve
this honor with having scored first in every race we ran this year, all in all
a great year for Bob. Another successful Bob, Bob Gautschi was second for
points here in the G of G with 7128. BobŐs consistent top three place scores in
all our races was again the reason for his high place finish. BobŐs other
achievement this year, which could be considered by some to over shadow Bob
GoodŐs great year, was to win the Alaska 1000 Race. This very historic race has
some of the best international log racers racing from Nanaimo, British Columbia
to Prince Rupert and then finishing in Juneau, Alaska. With each day being a
leg of the race, Bob finished first in part one, Nanaimo to Prince Rupert and
first in part two, Prince Rupert to Juneau. You might call this yearŐs racing,
here in the Gulf of Georgia, the Year of the Bob. Pictures below are Bob Good
receiving the Pacific Northwest Champion award, which as you can see is a
beautiful painting and Bob Gautschi receiving first overall trophy for winning
the Alaska 1000 Race.
Congratulations to all
racers who helped make this past racing year very memorable.
