Groundwater Flow Modeling
This figure illustrates the simulated groundwater flow patterns in the Chilliwack
area. The aquifer is comprised of a large alluvial fan with its apex at the
Vedder River as it exits the mountain terrane to the south. The groundwater
flow is modified by numerous springs and stream discharge points. This
model has been used to determine capture zones for wellhead protection strategies
and for long term planning purposes.
