Water Well Development
Emerson Groundwater Consultants have developed new water supplies for the
District of Chilliwack, a small community located approximately 100 kilometers
east of Vancouver. The District had been relying on a combination of
surface and groundwater sources but have recently moved their entire supply
to groundwater due to excessive turbidity and bacteria. The photograph
shown here is the initial start up of pump testing following well development.
As you can see, considerable sediment was mobilized at start up. This
eventually cleared to crystal clear water. The flow rate at this stage
was approximately 150 L/s. Two submersible pumps were used for this
test, both in a 500 mm diameter well casing. The well was recently
puton line and will be a great help in the summer months to help meet peak
demand.
