| Alta Electric Motors is located at 1010 Chamberlin road, Gibsons, BC, also serving Sechelt and Pender Harbour on the lower Sunshine Coast. Owner: Brian Houle is a certified electrician, re-builder and welder capable of repairing a full range of alternators, starter motors, and small tools both A/C and D/C. His credentials are: 10 years as a journeymen electrician, 7 years as a journeymen re-builder and Brian is also a journeymen welder. He has operated his business for the past seven years repairing industrial, automotive and marine electrical components in his fully equipped shop, to handle big or small jobs. Whether it's reconditioning and load-testing, his work and craftsmanship is of utmost perfection that ensures customer satisfaction. Brian has also been featured on nine episodes of "That Do It Yourself Show" on the local coast community television channel demonstrating his expertise in maintenance and repair. Shop equipment includes: metal lathe, run-up machine, sandblaster, press and numerous small hand-tools. Shop inventory is extensive. If what you need is not in stock, Brian will promptly and usually within 24 hours have it on-site. There is a full range of batteries available at the shop in case of immediate need. Hours of operation: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday. There is an after-hour drop off box. Patrons are requested to leave a message on his answering machine, including a note indicating servicing needs. Shop rate and service calls: $75/hr labour plus applicable taxes, this does not include parts. All units that come in for repair are bench-tested at a flat rate of $10. This fee is waived if Alta provides the service of reconditioning your unit. They replace all worn and faulty parts with extra heavy duty after market components. Marine applications receive marine grade parts to ensure compliance with your insurance needs and safety requirements. Starter Unit quality controlled rebuilding and reconditioning check list includes: armature, brushes, drive, field coils, solenoid, removal of rust and corrosion, painting and bench-testing. Alternator Unit quality controlled rebuilding and reconditioning check list includes: bearings, brushes, diodes, regulator, removal of rust and corrosion, rotor, stator, painting and bench-test. Brian recommends that you have your marine alternators and starters serviced every 2 years to ensure that they are working to their full potential, and to avoid inconvenient equipment failure (while at sea!). Battery levels should also be checked regularly to ensure proper fluid levels in each cell, to avoid damage. Don't let it shock you - contact us first! | |||||
