Our Beginnings

The 38th B.P. Guild was founded in May 31, 1992 as a result of the needs of former scouters in the Surrey, North Delta area who, although not all necessarily active scouters, wished to continue in a scouting related organization and to continue service to youth and the community as well as enjoying the social activities of the group. At our founding meeting in November 1992 a first group of officers was elected. Valuable assistance was given by the 9th Burnaby Guild to advise us and get us up and running.

Our Growth

What started out as a small group of about 9 scouters has grown to a very active group of about 30 guilders. Initially the membership was comprised of Scouters drawn from the Sur-Del District of Scouts Canada Fraser Valley Region. Some of them performed dual roles of Sur-del District Council members as well as Executive members of our fledgling guild, whilst others no longer active with district council nevertheless have performed past service with scouting groups in the Sur-Del district.

Our Affiliation

The 38th B-P Guild operates in Sur-Del under a Charter from the BC Yukon Provincial Council of B-P Guilds. The Guild is affiliated with Scouts Canada and the International Scout Guide Fellowship (ISGF). The guild is governed by a constitution and bylaws modeled on those of the Provincial council of B-P Guilds.
