The Guild meets 5 times per year in January, March, May, September and November. We have the occasional dinner meeting either at our regular meeting hall or at a local restaurant. We also like to get together for other social events and sometimes join forces with other guilds.
Regular meetings are held at the Strawberry Hill Farmer's Institute located at :
12152-75 Avenue
Surrey, B.C.
The community hall is located behind the Safeway store and is on the
north-west corner of 121st St and 75th Avenue just 1 block east
of Scott Rd (120th St) on 75th Avenue. The hall is designated a Heritage Registry Site having met certain standards and qualifications as defined by the City of Surrey.
It was incorporated under the Farmers and Womens Institute Act 1909. Members of the 38th B-P Guild have also been members of the Institute since 1995. Records, specifically minute books, correspondence and ledger books of the Institute from its inception until approximately 1975, have been transferred to the Surrey Museum and Archives.
Over recent years members of the 38th B-P Guild have drawn upon their considerable talents and renovated the interior of the hall. Bearing in mind its heritage status, modifications must adhere to strict regulations that preserve the original look of the hall and the renovations that have been completed conform to the basic structure whilst giving it a fresh atmosphere that will appeal to groups wishing to use the facilities.
The hall has been used by scouting groups as far back as 1975 and is available for rent for a variety of functions ranging from wedding receptions, birthday celebrations, dances, group meetings and has even been used as a classroom.
