(aussi disponible en Français)
We believe that everybody should :
-
Participate actively in the creation of a learning environment where the
rights of each is respected: the right to learn, to feel accepted and safe.
-
Be dressed appropriately for the weather and for gym. Avoid clothes which
carry violent messages
-
Speak French at all times in the hallways and classrooms except during
English Language class or when speaking with a non-French-speaking staff
member, visitor.
-
Celebrate differences, respect others without prejudging.
-
Discuss instead of fight. (No playfighting.) Look for a win-win solution
to conflict.
-
Control language by not swearing or teasing or using hurtful language.
-
Respect others’ property and common school property.
-
Leave the rocks, pinecones, branches, etc. on the ground. Throw balls only.
-
Observe the same standards for all. Be just. Have the same rules for all
and follow them.
-
Welcome everyone politely. Say 'bonjour' to others.
-
Help people who are in need. Be kind.

Towards individual
autonomy
We believe that each one of us is responsible for his/her own behavior.
A positive approach celebrating exemplary behaviors is favoured.
When an individual doesn't respect the code of conduct to the point
where it is necessary to exclude them of group, we follow these progressive
steps in order to help the individual find their own solution.
A student who has demonstrated acceptable behavior continuously for
a reasonable period (up to three weeks depending on the age of the child)
will descend the steps to discipline through a plan of action revolving
around understanding, prevention and education.
Depending on the gravity of any given offense, and especially in cases
involving violent behavior, the Principal reserves the right to go to higher
steps on the discipline ladder immediately.
-
1st step: The child completes a thinking sheet to identify the unacceptable
behavior, their response to the intervening authority and a plan of action
in order to improve the situation. The plan must be approved and signed
by the intervening party and by the child before the latter is allowed
to reintegrate the group.
-
2nd step: If there is recidivism, the child completes a second
thinking sheet which must be signed by the parents.
-
3rd step: Parents phoned. Thinking sheet signed by the parents,
by the intervening party and by the child. In-school detention for at least
an hour, including a recess or part of a lunch hour. The parents and the
child have a conference with the Principal after assigned work has been
completed in order to agree upon on a plan of action.
-
4th step: Parents phoned. Thinking sheet signed by the parents,
by the intervening party and by the child. In-school detention for half
day, including a recess or all of a lunch hour. The parents and the child
have a conference with the Principal after assigned work has been completed
in order to agree upon on a plan of action.
-
5th step: Parents phoned. Thinking sheet signed by the parents,
by the intervening party and by the child. In-school detention for full
day. After assigned work has been completed, the parents and the child
have a conference with the Principal in order to agree upon a plan of action.
-
6th step: Parents phoned. Thinking sheet signed by the parents,
by the intervening party and by the child. Out of school suspension for
one day. After assigned work has been completed, the parents and the child
have a conference with the Principal in order to agree upon a plan of action.
-
7th step: Parents phoned. Thinking sheet signed by the parents,
by the intervening party and by the child. Out of school suspension for
three days. After assigned work has been completed, the parents and the
child have a conference with the Principal in order to agree upon a plan
of action before the child is allowed back at school. Principal consults
the Superintendent of schools.
