Salmon serenade
55 students from l'École du Pacifique (Sechelt Francophone School),
accompanied by parents, friends and staff, meet at the Angus Creek
estuary to greet arriving salmon. Spawned to be Wild volunteers,
Gertrude Pacific and Barbara Rochefort, designed the event in cooperation
with the school staff. The children carried their salmon puppets
as the procession moved up the creek to the beat of a native drum.
Sechelt
Elder, Gilbert Joe (foreground) was on hand to encourage the
pupils to continue to learn how to be good stewards of the creeks.
