Flat car #1 was the first piece of large scale rolling stock I completed. It originally started out to be a gondola, but once I had the flat car, it stopped there. The plans were from Garden Railroader magazine. The wood is pine, and the decking is coffee stirrers. Trucks are from Bachmann. It served well in the construction of the first LM&B for keeping tools, nails, track spikes and ties, as well as checking for clearances. If you look closely in this early construction photo you can see Flat Car #1 serving as my coffee butler.
