This is one of my favourites. It looks good, runs
well and was made for under $20. I found a model Mack truck at a local
hobby store, already built, bought it, took it home and stared at
it for about two years. Then came Allan Olson's article in the October
1996 Garden Railways magazine on how he built a rail truck from the
same model kit. Mine is configured a little differently as I have
two powered wheels in the rear with four wheels in the front. The
lights work, the chain drive doesn't, but it runs nicely. I'd like
to find wheels with a small enough flange so that it doesn't look
ridiculous ( the front wheels are from a New Bright locomotive ).
It is battery powered and one day when I'm feeling clever I'm going
to cannibalize a toy R/C car and make it radio controlled.
