In my previous letter, I stated my objections to the Federal
Governments expropriation of the Nanoose Bay seabed area on the
following grounds.
The evidence of the harmful effects of nuclear
radiation is all
around to be seen. Increase in cancer and leukemia among young people,
during the early 1960's which is attributed to the above ground nuclear
testing in the western United States prior to that era. Testing of
nuclear weapons anytime and anywhere, especially above ground, is never
without inherent risk, because of the possibility of man-made or
technological error.
Expropriation of provincial land by the Federal
government, would put
additional strain on the relationship between B C and the Federal
Government.
