Object to the Nanoose Expropriation
Even if the deadline for filing an official objection has
passed, please file one anyway and send a copy to your Member of Parliament
and to the Prime Minister. If you have filed, please phone in and
reserve a time to attend the hearings and voice your concerns.

The federal government has announced that public hearings
will begin on July 19 in Nanaimo at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel at 4900
Rutherford Road. Hearings will continue August 3 in Vancouver at the B.C.
Gas Building at 1111 West Georgia Street.

The Federal Government of Canada, in order to circumvent the objections
of the Provincial Government to the presence of nuclear arms in the Strait
of Georgia, has decided to attempt an expropriation of the seabed, owned
by the Province. The seabed is an essential component of the ongoing
weapons testing activities in the Strait. Without a license to occupy
the seabed, the weapons testing cannot go on. The Province refuses
to renew the license unless the federal government agrees to a no nukes
clause. Local citizens can have a say at the expropriation hearings,
but you must act now to register your objections and in order to participate
