My name is Phillip Penna and I presently reside in North Bay, ON and I
object to federal expropriation of Nanoose Bay.

The reasons for my objection are legion, but most specifically I object on
the grounds that this action reveals a deep lack of political will to show
leadership on the issue of nuclear weapons.    That the federal government
is unwilling to keep our waters and lands free from the scourge of nuclear
weapons on the grounds that  our military allies have the right to not tell
us when they are carrying them is indefensible.  Such an attitude shows how
eroded our sense of independence and sovereignty on the fundamental issues
facing our age has become.

This action bears great resemblance to the action of the Pearson Liberal's
when they allowed U.S.  nuclear warheads on to Canadian soil  in 1963 where
they were kept at ready in Comox, BC and North Bay, ON.   The federal
action to expropriate the lands in BC because they refuse to defend
Canadian citizen's right to live in a nuclear free land  shows that the
same cold war foreign policy of 1963 whereby our sovereignty is
fundamentally compromised is guiding the Federal Liberal Party through to
today.   Thus, the Liberal Government continues to fail the test on the
fundamentals of the post-Cold War era.  It is a beytrayal of your public
trust as the federal government.

Get it together. Stop the expropriation and defend the interests and
independence of the people of Canada.  Make Canada Nuclear Weapons Free!

Yours truly,
