Ten Ways to Promote World Peace
-
Reconnect with our spiritual foundation. Let our actions flow from our
inner strength, compassion, and our humanity.
-
Practice listening and peace. Gather at our places of worship, at work,
at school, in our neighbourhoods. Give everyone a chance to speak; affirm
the legitimacy of every voice.
-
Find alternatives to war toys, video games and films that promote violence.
Play with and listen to our kids.
-
Get our information from a variety of sources. Refuse to let TV paralyse
us.
-
Oil and war are linked. Let’s support public transit, car pooling, cycling,
and insist that our governments and business leaders provide us with affordable,
clean alternative energies.
-
Support an organisation that provides humanitarian aid: the United Nations
Food Program, UNICEF, Oxfam, Doctors Without Borders, and don’t forget
our local food bank.
-
The #1 commodity traded in the world is armaments. Check our investments,
RRSP’s and pension funds to ensure that our money is being invested in
a socially responsible way.
-
Contact politicians to express support for responses that involve peace,
justice and the rule of law rather than an escalation of violence.
-
Practice non-violent solutions to conflict in all our relationships.
Create our own energy towards Peace right here in our own community..
-
Bring our ideas, concerns and compassion to the next meeting of the
Sunshine Coast Peace Group, Thursdays at 7:00 PM, Sechelt Elementary School
Library.
