Demonstrators
gather in Sechelt to hand out peace postcards. Nearly 1000 postcards
have been distributed at the Saturday demos. Each individual in Sechelt
(pop 8300) is proportionally equal to about 215 people if the event were
held in Vancouver (pop 2 000 000). Each of these people X 215 is
equal to 1075 demonstrators. There were four other people who attended
but are not in the photo so that makes nearly 2000! Small demonstrations
in small towns are very significant ! Each person's contribution
is so important. Please drop by some Saturday. There are lots
of signs and doves to carry, or you can bring your own. Every Saturday
at Cowrie and Wharf in Sechelt from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
And how about a little "après demo café". Here is where
everyone, including shyer people who are less comfortable demonstrating
on the street, can get together and talk peace or wood floors or land claims
or extra-terrestrials... Another venue is the Sunshine Coast Peace
Group's Thursday meetings. (7pm, École du Pacifique in Sechelt)
