Message sent to non mainstream media in the excited states

mr. :

i'm a canadian, live in an inlet on the west coast, but follow world events quite closely. i believe this madness of g.w. bush is inflaming the balanced nature of the united states. i too was outraged by 9-11. but continuous carpet bombing the most war ravaged citizens of the world? food or bombs? trick or treat? where is our humanity? where is the u.n.? where are the international crimminal courts? when and how will those millions of starving and displaced afghans get humanitarian aid in the amount needed? is this action winning the hearts and minds of the muslim world? what is most worrisome is the absence of legitimate debate by congress, the media and the public in the united states. bush's comments that "you are with us or with the terrorists" has driven open, genuine and legitimate debate to ground. and all the while, little is publicly said of bush's 'skull and bones society'.... "honour through the noble and victorious warrior mentality". his 'dead or alive" , "let's roll" cheerleading, drinking in the chants of "USA. USA." feeding his jingoistic rhetoric. he seems to not understand, in the bombing of a war ravaged and population in winter, the chants are not rinkside for a rallying cry for the 1980 usa hockey team. .....the memory of mai lai come back to me. in spades. particularly with the unexplained slaughter of hundreds inside the prisoner's fortress.

i watched a man called charles krauthammer on the canadian t.v. program 'counter spin'. his words and thoughts were obscene to me. i took the trouble to find the man and email him my thoughts on his war mongering, but as with a typical and arrogant bully, his email address was not on the washington post list. i was forced to send a message via another's address, but he is an offensive columnists to me.

i am disquieted by reading of the airborne visit by bush. after listening to his president, a young, naive, soldier was interviewed. he just wants to" go out and kill the enemy". and so it is with 'dead or alive" gun slingers and the followers. but who is the enemy? is it that man or this masked woman? ......or is it mai lai again? and where is the public record or witness to this campaign which is against terrorism, but nto the people of afghanistan? where are the press? or is this 'slaughter house ten', 'rambo', 'robocop', with a strong dose of personal and national vengence, a cerebral and physical laxative, under the now lawless leader of the free world? the leader who is soul declared judge of who is a terrorist? no appeal? military tribunal? no appeal? executions? judge, jury and hangman in one? a virtual messaih of the world. rome's new ceasar. and this man is the leader of a noble democracy? this compassionate conservative! but he's really an uneducated man who only knows baseball, texas and oil. he garners support from the corporate industrial complex, which seems to not only be alive and well, but running the world's only super power.

and the nuclear crowd........ ......i remember studying the decision surrounding the use of "fat man and little boy". the similarities are chillingly close...... a novice president. a traumatized nation, a military in control, (teaching communist russia /terrorists a lesson), generals wanting to justify the expenditure of a billion dollars, no one knowing the full scientific, military and political impact, a military that did not want to demonstrate the bomb at night outside tokyo bay......even with japan seeking surrender through russia, out of food and out of fuel, virtually defeated...or in the case of afghanistan, out of nearly everything. .....

and there is instability in nuclear pakistan. and where are all those russian nukes now? ...and a desensitized public born of a generation of rambo and video games of destruction and kill......reality games.....flight simulator.... slaughter.....and just another 50¢ will restart the game......

and once again many people who have lived in the 'land of the free ' think that this planet is not linked in an enviromental, political, geographical and humanitarian way. it's just 'over there somewhere, not here'. once again. we need the courage of a strong and vigilant press badly now.... .......

wwi - a war of attrition- a 120,000 frenchmen in two days-stopping machine gun bullets...slaughtered or wounded or captured... .......

viet nam.. a war of nightly news in our living room....that napalmed girl running down the street. .......

afghanistan...nothing from mainstream american news sources- not patriotic if collateral damage might be known. .........

but if this goes beyond afghanistan, the next horse and rider to join the horsemen of the appocalypse might be the one with glowing eyes.... ....when i was teaching in the north, an american ex- green beret gave a workshop on his thoughts on the life in the world after his time in brutal hostilities in viet nam. he did two things that have remained with me every moment of my life since:

and so, where are all those nukes? anyone know? where are all those bombs.... ........................

nuclear winter. clouds, firestorm, and darkness. just 7 hydrogen bombs... and t in 2001, some suggested nuking muslims..... hawks and war. and the horsemen ride.....

and why this note. for me it is encouraging that people like you exist in this time of blood lust and trauma. that you have the courage and vehicle to state what must be stated when the race to the bottom is on. thank you for your courage to write it and your wisdom to see or know it. i felt a need to write to get it out of my heart and mind. regards,
